Blackbox Chess provides engine-driven chess analysis reports, personalized training drills, AI-generated opening videos, and an optional monthly subscription with additional training tools, based on game data you provide or authorize us to fetch from Chess.com or Lichess. By using Blackbox Chess you agree to these terms.
Reports are generated using Stockfish engine analysis and are informational only. They do not constitute professional chess coaching advice. Improvement in your chess play depends on your own study and practice. We do not guarantee any specific improvement outcome.
Subscriber features include a spaced-repetition training library, weekly re-analysis of your new games, and an endgame trainer. The endgame trainer includes an optional AI question-and-answer feature that generates plain-English explanations of chess positions.
AI-generated answers may be incorrect. Explanations produced by the endgame trainer's question-and-answer feature are generated by an artificial intelligence model and are not verified for accuracy. They may contain wrong evaluations, misidentified tactics, or incorrect plans. Treat them as a study aid only, not authoritative chess instruction, and verify anything important against your own analysis or a qualified instructor. A "report this answer" option is provided so you can flag answers you believe are wrong.
Opening videos are personalized chess tutorial videos generated from your game data using AI tools including Google Gemini (script), Microsoft Edge TTS (voiceover), and OpenAI Whisper (timecode alignment). The script and voiceover are AI-generated. They are reviewed for accuracy but we do not guarantee they are free of errors. Videos are rendered via AWS Lambda and delivered to you via a time-limited download link.
Opening videos are not authoritative chess instruction. AI-generated scripts may contain inaccuracies including incorrect move evaluations, misstated threats or tactics, or errors in position descriptions. You should verify any claims made in a video against your own analysis or a qualified chess instructor before relying on them for study or improvement.
Download links expire 48 hours after delivery. You are responsible for saving your video before the link expires. We are not obligated to re-render or re-deliver a video after the link has expired, though we may do so at our discretion.
Videos are personalized to you and are non-transferable.
Any opening video created through Blackbox Chess - whether purchased, earned through a free credit, or generated through the social-share program - may be posted to Blackbox Chess social media accounts, which may include Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube under the ChessJitsu brand. By requesting or receiving a video through any of these paths, you consent to this posting. This consent cannot be withdrawn after the video has been posted.
When a video is created, you may choose whether your chess username is displayed in the video or anonymized. This is the only customization available for social posting. You do not have the right to approve, reject, or request removal of the video once it has been posted to a social platform.
Videos posted to social platforms are subject to those platforms' own community guidelines and content policies. Blackbox Chess is not responsible for the removal, demotion, or restriction of any video by a social platform. In particular, content posted via the TikTok API is subject to TikTok's Community Guidelines and may be removed or restricted by TikTok independently of any action by Blackbox Chess.
Opening video scripts and voiceovers, and the endgame trainer's question-and-answer explanations, are generated by artificial intelligence tools. All videos posted to social media platforms include the platform's required AI content disclosure label where applicable. You acknowledge that this content is AI-generated and not produced by a human chess instructor.
All purchases and subscription fees are non-refundable, including analysis reports, opening videos, subscription periods (including partial or unused time), and any future products or add-ons offered through Blackbox Chess. The only exception is where a refund is required by applicable law: nothing in these terms limits any statutory consumer rights you have that cannot legally be waived. If you believe the law entitles you to a refund, contact us at the email below and we will review your request. By completing a purchase you acknowledge and agree to this policy.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Blackbox Chess does not store your payment card details.
Blackbox Chess offers an optional monthly subscription, currently $12 per month. When you subscribe, you authorize Blackbox Chess, through our payment processor Stripe, to charge your payment method the subscription fee automatically at the start of each billing period.
Your subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel. Each renewal charges the then-current monthly fee to the payment method on file.
You can cancel at any time. Use the "Manage subscription" link in your account to open the Stripe billing portal, where you can cancel or update your payment method. Cancellation stops all future renewals. When you cancel, your subscriber access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and does not renew after that.
Subscription fees are non-refundable except where a refund is required by applicable law, including for partial billing periods and unused time, consistent with the refund policy above. Cancelling stops future charges but does not refund the current period.
Immediate access and withdrawal right (where applicable). Where you have a statutory right to withdraw from or cancel a purchase within a cooling-off period (for example, consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom), you expressly request that your subscriber access begins immediately when you subscribe. You acknowledge that once access has begun, you lose that withdrawal right for the current billing period to the extent the service has been provided. This does not affect your ability to cancel future renewals at any time as described above.
We may change the subscription price or the features it includes. If we change the price, we will notify you before the change takes effect, and the new price applies to your next renewal. Continuing your subscription after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the change.
You are responsible for the accuracy of any chess username or game data you provide. You must have the right to share any PGN files you upload. We do not claim ownership of your game data. By using the service you grant Blackbox Chess a license to process your game data to provide the analysis, drill, and video services described above.
By providing a chess username or uploading game data, you grant Blackbox Chess a license to use your chess username, game data, and derived analysis in videos posted to social media platforms as described in the Social media posting consent section above. This license includes the right to display your chess username (unless you opt for anonymization when the video is created) in publicly posted video content.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Blackbox Chess and its owner from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) content you submit to the service, including game data, PGN files, or chess usernames that you did not have the right to use; (b) your use of any video or analysis output generated by the service; (c) your violation of these terms.
The service is provided as-is. We make no guarantees of uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Engine analysis reflects Stockfish's evaluation at a given depth and may differ from other engines or human assessment.
If you believe any content on Blackbox Chess or posted by Blackbox Chess to social media infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice to our designated agent at blackboxchess@gmail.com.

We will review valid notices and take appropriate action, which may include removing or disabling access to the content in question.
Do not attempt to disrupt, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the service. Do not submit fraudulent payment information or attempt to obtain reports or videos without valid payment. We may terminate access for any user who violates these terms.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The date at the top of this page reflects when the terms were last updated.
