Lichess game analysis — find the patterns across your history, not just one game

Lichess has good built-in analysis for individual games. BlackboxChess does something different: it pulls your Lichess games, runs them through Stockfish, and finds which mistake types keep recurring across your history. The output is a ranked diagnosis of what's actually holding your rating back.

How Lichess connection works

Lichess uses OAuth, which means connecting is one click. You authorize BlackboxChess to read your games, we pull your last 10 to 100 games, and analysis starts automatically. No username/password entry, no manual PGN export needed.

The connection only reads your public game history. Nothing is written to your account.

What Lichess's own analysis doesn't show you

Lichess's game analysis tells you where you blundered in a specific game, move by move. That's useful for understanding individual games. But it doesn't tell you which type of mistake is structural to your play.

If you've reviewed 20 games on Lichess and you're still not sure why your rating won't move, it's usually because you're looking at individual games when the answer is in the aggregate. That's what BlackboxChess is for.

What the analysis finds

Stockfish evaluates every position across your games. Significant errors get classified into recurring mistake types across categories including material loss, king safety, piece activity, pawn structure, and endgame technique. Each one is scored by impact, not just frequency.

Most Lichess players find one or two categories that account for most of their losses. That's the pattern worth working on.

"I can say that after trying, trusting and testing BlackboxChess, I am quite better for it and grateful. You've earned a serious fan of your work."

"It shocked me at first to see what even your website showed, some of it I immediately realised as having been areas to improve on from my intuition of what's lacking but most of these are seriously incisive insights past what players like myself can recognise."

BlackboxChess user

"Pretty accurate. Definitely a good price point too."
